Automatic door hold open devices

door_hold_open7.png

Dorgard Acoustic is a device designed to hold open a fire or smoke door safely, automatically releasing upon the sound of a fire or smoke alarm. It can be used to hold the door in any position between open or closed.  Dorgard Acoustic is a more cost effective means of legally holding open fire and smoke doors, compared to a fully wired electromagnetic door hold open devices. It eliminated the need for expensive hard wiring of the door hold open device.

"No wires, no worries!"

Key Features and Benefits

  • Installs in under 5 minutes
  • Wire-free solution
  • Automatically releases when fire or smoke alarm sounds
  • Proven in thousands of buildings across Europe
  • Smart unobtrusive design in several colours
  • Easy foot operated release and adjustment
  • Automatic night time release option
  • Improves access for wheelchair users
  • Fire tested for up to 2 hours for use on most proprietary fire doors

Operation

When Dorgard Acoustic is holding a fire door open it listens for the continuous sound of a fire or smoke alarm. It needs to hear the alarm signal that exceeds 65dB (sound level) for about 10-15 seconds. At a general noise level of 80dB (Sound level) Dorgard will release. This facility has been built into the unit as a safety feature.  Should the noise level in your premises exceed 80dB it is unlikely that you would hear a 65dB alarm.  Dorgard Acoustic has shown to operate with many of the different evacuation signals, including EWIS.
