Users:  50+
Area under management:  All TAFE Buildings in Victoria, plus selected interstate and overseas

Project Details

For DET, we worked in partnership with a company called Logica and provided a space management capability and facilities inventory for the Department across some 900 TAFE facilities. The application is provided as a bureau service operating out of Logica’s Victorian data-centre and is 100% web driven.

Phase 1 of the project was to capture floorplans for all floors of all buildings where TAFE courses are delivered and to publish those plans to users with standard web browsers using the Department WAN.

FMI developed a number of customisations that enable web browser users to query and enter data, upload and download CAD plans from the central server and to run a series of ad-hoc visual and tabular reports against the central database.

Phase 2 of the project was enhancement to produce a spatial inventory which is interfaced to the Department’s chosen audit data capture technology. This interface, along with database enhancements, enabled the Department to seamlessly capture and record condition assessments against the spatial inventory.

Future phases of the project are intended to provide greater management control over the budgetary spend for capital and other works in TAFE facilities.
