Christmas Charity

Every year FMI makes a donation to two charities instead of sending Christmas Cards to clients and associates. This year we have donated $250 each to Open Family and Diabetes Australia. If you are struggling to decide on a gift for someone this Christmas, consider donating to a charity in their name. The giftee gets the warm and fuzzy feeling that charity offers and the organisation gets much needed funds to help them in their cause.

 

East Gippsland TAFE becomes Advance TAFE

East Gippsland Institute of TAFE has become Advance TAFE, with the unveiling of its new name and logo at the Bairnsdale campus on Wednesday 16th November by the Hon Peter Hall, Minister for Higher Education and Skills and Minister for the Teaching Profession. The annual FMA Awards of Excellence gala dinner took place on Thursday 10th November at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne. There were 8 prestigious awards presented at this star studded night and FM Innovations is proud to be the runner up for the 2011 FMA Australia Initiative in Customer Service Award. Annual FMA Awards Night

One way to get more involved in the FM industry is to celebrate the achievements of companies and individuals in FM at our massive Awards night on 10th November. Last year we held our inaugural Awards of Excellence night in Sydney and it was a massive success. The only problem with such success is that you have to make it even better the following year, and we really have. Apart from the obvious stars of the night - our entrants, winners and of course our sponsors - we also have the most outstanding line up of entertainment to ensure this is one exceptional extravaganza, taking place at the Hyatt in Melbourne this year. TEMC 2011 Round Up

The 2011 Tertiary Education Management Conference, was held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on the 14 – 17 August. The theme of the conference was Riding the Waves with several sub themes under this which were designed to challenge delegates’ and presenters’ thinking and paradigms. We had a great time meeting delegates and trade exhibitors. The winner of FM Innovations’ business card draw competition was Greg Kaplan from University of NSW who walked away with a $300 Red Balloon voucher. Read more.

Our partnership with CBRE continues

We have begun a new project with CBRE, building on our long term business relationship. We have worked with CBRE since 2006 and have developed a customised version of our software suite to meet their wide ranging requirements. This software development project will create a security access control mechanism for CBRE's Pulse Response Centre. A redesign and refresh of the Pulse, PulseTech, PulseConnect, Pulse Contractor, PRC manager potrals will also be carried out. We thank them for their continued support and collaborative efforts. World FM Day Vic Expo


Last month FM Innovations attended the Victorian Branch Luncheon and Expo as part of World FM Day. The lunch guest speaker was Laurie Reeves, a Director of MELT FM and Controlworks, who entertained and informed us on the current state of energy in our buildings. He visited the issues of Carbon Tax, our politicians, the technologies available for energy-related projects, and reviewed the barriers that sometimes prevent us from achieving our environmental and commercial balance in energy reduction activities. FM Innovations® would like to introduce their four newest clients FM Solutions, AGL, Dandenong Market and PFD Food Services.

FM Solutions are a facility management company that specialises in comprehensive maintenance solutions and regulatory compliance programs. FM Solutions currently manages facilities in NSW, QLD and the ACT which include clubs, restaurants, hotels, commercial office buildings, schools, strata buildings and a coal loading facility. They have purchased WSMindustrial as a hosted solution, to help manage the facilities of their clients. We look forward to working with them!

AGL is Australia's leading renewable energy company and is Australia's largest private owner, operator and developer of renewable generation assets. AGL has major investments in hydro and wind, as well as ongoing developments in key renewable areas including solar, geothermal, biomass, bagasse and landfill gas. AGL also operates retail, merchant energy and upstream gas businesses and has over three million customer accounts. They have purchased FM Works and Property Lease Management to manage their maintenance tasks and property portfolio. Welcome on board!

Dandenong Market is situated in the heart of Dandenong and is one of Victoria's oldest markets. The market has recently undergone a $26 million redevelopment and now offers a fine selection of fresh produce, quality butchers, deli items and seafood as well as a vast array of fruit and vegetables, plants, baked goods, jewellery, homewares, toys and clothing. Dandenong Market have purchased WSM Works to manage their adhoc and planned maintenance tasks. We look forward to working with them!

PFD Food Services origins can be traced back to 1864 when J Hill & Son commenced business as a fresh fish merchant. Over the years they have grown and they now have 65 branches across the country supplying food service businesses with a range of products. Thank you to everyone that attended Ideaction 11 in Brisbane. We had a great time at our stand meeting everyone and chatting about our products and the FM industry in general. FM Innovations Welcomes Two New Staff Members

Chandana Mirihane has started work with us as an application developer in FM Innovations’ development team. Hailing from Sri Lanka he has a Bachelor of Computer Science and has been in the IT industry for over 10 years. Chandana has over 6 years of experience in .NET software development and a solid background in HRM. He is fluent in C#.NET, VB.NET, ASP.NET, VB6 and Classic ASP, PHP, JSP, HTML and has experience in working with Oracle, SQL Server and MYSQL databases. Chandana’s knowledge and wealth of development experience is an asset to the FM Innovations team and we are glad to have him on board.

Brian Sheehan joined FM Innovations in April and will be actively engaged in aligning the documentation of WSMenterprise with a superior user experience at all levels. Prior to FM Innovations, Brian worked in a Sr. Technical Communicator capacity with a Forbes 500 firm and his specialty is acting as the voice of the user in areas such as interface design, content development, and documentation strategy creation. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Asian History from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Technical Communication. Brian is a remote employee working from the Philippines. He is a welcome addition to our team!

FM Innovations Launches The Virtual Client Centre

Over the past few months we have been designing and developing our Virtual Client Centre (VCC). The VCC is a forum where our clients and staff can interact to learn more about our software, discuss ideas for future functionality and upgrades and get support for any issues that you may be experiencing. As this is a new endeavour we would appreciate feedback on what you think the forum should offer and how you would like to use it.

WSM 4.6 is realeased

The newest upgrade to the WSMenterprise software has just been finished and will be deployed to our clients over the coming months. The most exciting feature of the upgrade is the brand new Contract Management module. Accessed via WSMplannet the new module allows clients to manage their contracts through the entire workflow process, from going out to tender, managing the life of the contract, to reviewing and renewing contracts. A number of enhancements and fixes for a number of our modules have also been included in the upgrade.

Latest Client Upgrades

Victoria University Upgrading from Beims to WSMenterprise

Victoria University are upgrading their Works Management system from Beims to FM Innovations WSMenterprise FM-Work. VU have also recently upgraded to Aperture VWS to manage their Space via the Visual Web Server.

Bendigo Regional Institute of TAFE, Contract Management and Vehicle Management

BRIT are currently liaising with the FM Innovations development team to design a new contract management system that will store, track, manage and plan previous, current and future contracts. Vehicle Management is now out of testing and being fully implemented by the FM team at BRIT. Vehicle Management is now available within the WSM software suite. Please contact the FMI head office for more information.

WSM interface integration with Finance One for UMS

FM Innovations has successfully designed a new interface that integrates with accounting package Finance One. This will reduce countless hours of reports and double handling data entry UMS were having. This continues to highlight FM Innovations ability to integrate with other systems on the market.

CQU upgrading to VWS and RRMS

Central Queensland University have recently purchased the Aperture Visual Web Server (VWS) and the Room Relocation Management System (RRMS). VWS will allow CQU to manage all their spacial requirements via the web while the RRMS will significantly reduce time needed to relocate assets within Aperture.

DSE Victoria upgrading to VWS

DSE have just decided to upgrade the the Aperture VWS to manage all their Space requirements via the web. The FM Innovations support team are working closely with the DSE team to ensure all new developments are carefully monitored.

DWLBC SA are going live with their Space Management with Aperture VWS

DWLBC are going live with their Space Management. Director of FM Innovations, Ray Lodge has been overseeing the project and believes DWLBC SA will see significant time and cost savings using Aperture VWS.

 

Become a home sustainable assesor

The Federal Government recently announced the launch of the Home Sustainability Assessment Scheme (HSAS) and the Green Loans Program. Sustainable Footprint has recently been appointed as a training organisation for the Federal Governments HSAS. More than 1,000 people have undertaken the Home Sustainability Assessor training to become accredited by the Association of the Building Sustainability.

Happy Birthday FM Innovations

FM Innovations would like to thank all the people who visited the FM Innovations stand to make it one of the most popular stands at the conference.  FM Innovations theme was designed around Innovation with Integration - Ideas in Action.  FMI has successfully integrated with several existing systems across various platforms and functionality for many of its clients.  Director of FM Innovations, Ray Lodge presented "Health Check on your Space" with Rosie Bonham from Sydney West Area Health Service.  They both covered the logistics of managing one of the biggest Area Health Services in NSW and how Aperture Space Management has been tailored to suit SWAHS requirements.

Mandatory Disclosure of Commercial Office Building Energy Efficiency

The Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments have recently established the 'National Framework for Energy Efficiency (NFEE), which has proposed the Mandatory Disclosure of Commercial Office Building Energy Efficiency.  Basically these regulations proposed would mean that by 2010 the energy efficiency (NABERS energy ratings) of commercial office buildings or tenancy equal to or over 2,000m2 to be disclosed at the point of sale or lease so that buyers and tenants can compare energy efficiency on a 'like for like' basis.

Congratulations to Kris Greenwood, Director of FM Innovations, for being elected by the members of FMA Australia to the board.  The FMA Australia is the peak industry body promoting and educating the Facility Management industry.  Kris recently stepped down as the Chair for the FMA Australia Victorian Branch.

FM Innovations donates $500 to charity over Christmas

FM Innovations has continued with their tradition of donating money to worthy charities instead of sending out Christmas cards and presents.  This year we have donated $250 to Challenge - Kids with Cancer and $250 to St. Vincent de Paul.  This money will go towards helping improve the lives of several children and families throughout the next 12 months.
