year has seen FMI move up to a new level in the FM & Property
industry. We were fortunate in that we did not feel the adverse impacts
of the GFC crunch as badly as some, and that is because we adapted to the
economic downturn by adapting our marketing approach and product mix. This month we welcomed two new clients to our stable; Vision Australia
and Fortescue Metals. Vision Australia has purchased WSM Works and
Property Lease Management software. Fortescue Metals is our first client
in Western Australia and they have purchased WSM Works software. We look
forward to a long and beneficial relationship with both over the coming
years. Read more about
our clients. Some of the exciting projects we have this coming year include:
- Our major
release WSMenterprise® V5 which will challenge our FM software
competitors and set a new benchmark in the FM software industry
- A new
Client Forum with the latest news, tips and information for our
clients – enabling them to share with fellow users
- A new SaaS
model which will take the pain away from clients who can’t host
their own FM systems
- A new CRM
system will be implemented to further improve our Account Management
- The
development of industry specific solutions development forums
- Additional
support and education services

WSMenterprise 4.6 is released
The
newest upgrade to the WSMenterprise software has just been finished and
will be deployed to our clients over the coming months. The most exciting
feature of the upgrade is the brand new Contract Management module.
Accessed via WSMplannet the new module allows clients to manage their
contracts through the entire workflow process, from going out to tender,
managing the life of the contract, to reviewing and renewing contracts. A
number of enhancements and fixes for a number of our modules have also
been included in the upgrade. To read more about Version 4.6 please click here.

Data Capture - Filling
Gaps In Information
We would all recognise the strong relationship between
good information
and effective management; this is why we use information management
systems. Occasionally information contains gaps requiring the collection
of additional data. Data collection projects can be quite risky in terms
of time, cost and quality. Unfortunately, too often, these projects have
produced disappointing outcomes. If the sourced data is of a high
quality, the information management systems can drive great value for the
organisation. Read more.

Mandatory Disclosure of Energy Efficiency
Commercial buildings account for at least 10% of Australia’s greenhouse
gas emissions, having risen 87% between 1990 and 2006, and office
buildings contribute the most significant proportion of emissions for the
commercial sector. Tom Cantwell from DLA Phillips Fox gives an update on the looming
Mandatory Disclosure of Energy Effiency laws and what your business needs
to do to be prepared. Read more.

Preventing the Spread of
Flu in the Workplace
Whether the cause is H1N1 flu or another potential pandemic illness,
facility managers need to prepare for and be aware of a possible worst
case scenario. This is particularly true when faced with the prospect of
more than 25% to 30% of their workforce absent due to illness (or
symptoms of illness), yet still having to run and supervise the main
functions of their facility. Employers are obliged under the Occupational
Health and Safety Act (2004) to provide a safe workplace for their
employees, including the provision of adequate infection control
procedures and the right equipment and training. Read more.
