The first customer to take up the 4.2 install is one of FMI’s longest serving clients Rio Tinto, now housed at 120 Collins Street in Melbourne. The installation was planned by FMI in conjunction with Riot Tinto’s Andrew Steffanatti and their IT group. There were a number of aspects to the installation process but it was down in less than 4 hours and then over the next 24 hours it was monitored and tested by Andrew and the IT team at Rio. Some teething problems with reports and the bar code reader used in the Visitor management but these were fixed quickly by Marcus and the support team at FMI. Three other companies have upgraded already and more are scheduled in the next few weeks.
Over the last 18 months industry changes and challenges in the Facilities and Property Management disciplines have tested us all. In the IT industry, FM Innovations (FMI) has also changed as newer and more advanced technology becomes more affordable. In recent times both environmental impacts and the global credit crisis have created further challenges to you, your society and your workplaces. It is in this turbulent time that FMI can now reveal a significant development in our offerings to you. Our flagship product WSMenterprise has undertaken a transformation over the last 18 months culminating in this new release; WSMenterprise version 4.2. As a part of our commitment to our clients this is now available to our maintenance paying customers at no charge. An in-depth discussion of the new features of this release is below. This release provides valuable upgrades to each module within the WSMenterprise stable of products.

The 4.2 release enhances the core WSMenterprise software by including a Sustainability Management set of functions. The Sustainability functions were launched at the recent World Sustainable Building Conference 2008 (SB08) held in Melbourne to a resounding success and approval. It is the first system in the world that allows comprehensive sustainable measurements against the backdrop of critical Facility Management information. Now you can implement sustainability measurements in your current WSMenterprise system very simply. Additionally we have also introduced enhanced modules in the following areas:
The new WSMindustrial for customers who are managing services to many external clients has been upgraded with the same benefits.
The 4.2 release has evolved over the last 18 months and has brought about a change in policy at FMI. We are now dedicated to delivering a product enhancement every 6 months which we believe you will need to keep ahead of the challenges that confront you and your organisation in our ever changing climate. The next WSMenterprise release – 4.5, will have a new Vehicle Management module plus many other enhancements to the current functionality.
Release Notes
WSMenterprise and WSMindustrial
The addition of new core recording and reporting of Sustainability factors for Water, Gas, Electricity and Waste have been added with key benchmarks and Nabers (Australian) rating recording included in the web based portal. This function will be enhanced and will include such functions as asset specification factors, fittings materials, air quality and user acceptance measurements amongst others in the coming months. Obviously as well as managing Essential Safety Measures (ESM) schedules we now allow the system to manage and schedule the future Environmentally Sustainable Development (ESD) planned jobs to keep your green building up to the mark.
This is the free web portal built for WSMenterprise and WSMindustrial. It has been significantly enhanced to provide authourised access to any type of user to undertake most aspects of their work. The new functions provided in this release are:
WSMenterprise dashboard

Work-FM (Enhanced)
This module has been enhanced significantly to provide extensive job cost estimation and enhanced job routing with authourisation steps now built into the workflow. The work scheduler component has been completely rewritten and now operates from a network server based application. More powerful email capabilities have been added allowing emails to now be sent from a central email account. WSM Work-FM continues to be the industry leading software in the FM and property industry.


Sustainability Management (New)
The initial focus of this system enhancement is to provide monitoring (benchmarking) and reporting on sustainability management in the areas of energy (electricity), gas, water and waste. There is now a system with the capability to manage, on an ongoing basis, with current day-to-day data so that the operational factors and trends can be indentified and addressed in a timely fashion.

REM (Room Event Management) (Enhanced)
This module has been enhanced to operate through the web portal (WSMplannet). The changes here have been significant in improving the efficiency of processing and also incorporating the new Visitor management function.

Property and Lease Management (Enhanced)
This module has been completely revamped to take into account expense recording for leased property and for rental contract management. This improved version is tightly integrated with the FM system enabling expenses and key dates to be seen by authourised members of the FM team. This helps in their assessment of works to be undertaken and large scale spending moderated to suit the time left on the lease. This module has been designed for corporations to replace home built systems or the dreaded in-house spreadsheets and all the risk that is entailed in managing a property portfolio this way.

This module was designed as a spin off from the REM system and allows the recording of all on site personnel, whether they are meeting guests (integrated with REM), contractors (integrated with Work- FM), employees for mother sites etc. The system will produce visitor badges and has scanning entry and egress control capabilities. The system can at any time highlight visitors and their status on your site. The system also provides the complete privacy of your visitor register and provides effective and accurate status of the on site details.

Space and Relocation Management (New)
The space module provides the use of Aperture to measure and analyse space allocations within your organisation. This is based on the Australian PCA regime and algorithm but can be tailored to suit your organisational needs. In version 4.2 WSM has added the relocation and personnel tracking component using the WSMplannet web portal. This online system allows the adding of staff, the moving of staff and the planning of large scale relocations. It also provides the capability to track personal (attractive) assets with the individual staff member.

WSM Reporting (New)
WSM 4.2 now enables you to write your own reports. This simple to use feature is intended to be operated by personnel who have been trained in the use of the system and who understand the information and how the system uses it. The system now has the capability to produce graphs and charts to suit your specific reporting requirements.
